About
Bell & Finch Studio Shop is run and operated by owners June Parrish Cookson and her husband Don Cookson. Steadily involved in the decorative painting business since the early 1990s, they have created sophisticated painted wall finishes combining old and modern styles for homes and businesses. June has sold paintings through reputable art galleries throughout the West coast. In addition, going on nearly twenty-five years, June has hand-painted original designs onto a vast array of furniture plus large wall murals for interior design centers and personal home clientele.
Beginning in 2015, the couple is now embarking on a new business adventure with their shop. Their independent studio shop used for production, specialize in a range of antique and vintage furniture sourced from flea markets, auctions, and estate sales. To lend old worn appeal and velvety matte finish to the furniture. . . June, hand paints and distresses surfaces using custom formulated chalk paint recipes combined with other Eco-friendly earth pigments and acrylic paint combinations. The recipe has taken years to formulate and is exclusive. On occasion dependent on a furniture piece, she utilizes old-fashioned milk paints.
Having an extensive professional background in the arts, furniture with painted decorative designs are created exclusively by June. Afterward, painted furniture items are either waxed or professionally sprayed with (matte) water-based polyurethane clear varnish by Don. With years working as a professional house painter and woodworker, Don enjoys prepping, repairing, varnishing, and building cabinetry and various other furniture items for shop clientele. He is also the sales representative for the shop.
Our Style
With June's affinity for elegant European and rustic Ethnic styles, items are distressed and painted in various colors -- and distressed either a little or extensively.
Not All Furniture Is Painted
On occasion, some antique items are left in their original wood-based condition unless repairs are necessary before selling.
Other Items Available?
Yes. Available in a timely manner, are a wide spectrum of June's home furnishings and handmade decorative objects based on her own designs and surface patterns. These range from wall coverings, fire-screens, lampshades, floor screens, including charming kid's items for nursery or playrooms. All the items are eco-friendly (more details coming soon).
